In early 2009, William and Chris joined as a team during a classroom exercise at the Green Worker Cooperatives Academy. They decided to start a worker cooperative restaurant. William brought Gabriel into the picture, who he'd known from their days volunteering at the Restaurant Opportunities Center, a workers rights center in New York City. After several meetings in New York's sweltering summer heat, the threesome decided to embark upon a mission: to pioneer new methods of building sustainable, replicable worker-owned businesses. And they chose a name for their new organization: Workers Development.
Workers Diner is their first project. They'd be happy to speak more about their future plans. To get in touch, please email us or call (212) 678-2397.
